What does the AI Readiness Assessment deliver and what does it cost?
AI Readiness Assessment from Dave Willemstein shows organizations that are considering AI but have not chosen a direction yet what is realistic and what should happen first. The result is a readiness score across strategy, data, technology, people and governance, a gap analysis and a 90-day plan. The assessment takes 2-3 weeks and costs €7,000, as a fixed price excluding VAT and travel expenses.
How long does the AI Readiness Assessment take?
2-3 weeks. In that period AI Readiness Assessment covers a document analysis, a data scan and 8-12 interviews, followed by scoring, prioritization and a closing session.
Is the price of the AI Readiness Assessment a fixed price?
AI Readiness Assessment is a fixed price for the whole organization, at €7,000, and the closing presentation to leadership or the board is included. For a single business unit or process domain, the investment is lower. The amount is excluding VAT and travel expenses.

Why this comes up
Sound familiar?
- Pilots are running, but nobody can explain what they add up to.
- The question "are we ready?" gets four different answers, depending on who you ask.
- A vendor gave an impressive demo and now a decision needs to be made fast.
- The data foundation is named as a problem, but nobody knows how big that problem actually is.
How it works
Two to three weeks, four fixed blocks. No weeks-long rounds of interviews.
Week 1
Document analysis, a data scan and 8-12 interviews across the organization: business, IT, data, risk and a few people on the floor.
Week 2
Scoring on five dimensions against a reference framework, plus a first opportunity list that we validate with the owners of those processes.
Week 3
Prioritization, a 90-day plan and the closing session where we have the conversation that actually matters: what will we do, and what will we not do?
What you get
Concrete. Clear.
Immediately usable.
- Readiness score on strategy, data, technology, people and governance
- Gap analysis with the three blockers that actually matter
- Validated longlist of use cases with a first value estimate
- 90-day plan with owners, a budget order of magnitude and decision points
- Risk and compliance scan, including positioning under the AI Act
- Closing presentation you can reuse one-to-one for your board
Best fit for
Organizations that:
- Organizations seriously considering AI but without a chosen direction yet
- Leadership teams that need to substantiate an investment proposal
- Teams stuck between enthusiastic pilots and a skeptical board
- Situations where there is time pressure, but a wrong decision would be costly
Less suitable if
- If you already know what you are going to build and only need execution capacity
- If the goal is a report that mostly confirms what has already been decided
The rhythm underneath
From insight
to impact.
Every engagement runs through the same four decision points. Only the depth per step differs.

What are we actually trying to solve?
Prioritize
Which use cases earn money, time and attention?
Decide
Build, buy or partner, and why?
Ship & govern
How do we make sure it actually lands?
A growing SaaS organization was about to buy an AI platform. The assessment showed that the data foundation would make that platform fail within a year. The decision was postponed, the foundation tackled first.
Frequently asked questions
Answers to what you are thinking now.
How much time will this take my team?
Budget 45-60 minutes per person interviewed, plus two 90-minute sessions with the core group. I will not ask for more than that. Most of the work I do myself, based on documents, systems and data.
Do I get a scorecard or an opinion?
Both, but the opinion is the product. A score without interpretation is a number without meaning. In the closing session I explain which score you can ignore and which one you should take seriously.
What if the outcome is that we are not ready yet?
Then that is the most valuable outcome you can get for this price. You get a foundation plan instead of a use-case plan, and you avoid a failed initiative.
Can this be done for one department instead of the whole organization?
Yes. For a single business unit or a specific process domain, the assessment typically takes two weeks and the investment is lower. We discuss that in the intake.
